Once long ago, the steel blade was longer than the 4 feet it is now, as the broken tip attests.  The last owner had used the sword well, as the jagged tip has been well sharpened, as is the edge.  For a giant the sword was easily held in one hand, but for the rest of us mortals, it is a fine two handed sword.
