This square handkerchief is much too thick and leathery for a proper gentleman's hankie; however, it makes an excellent bandanna.  One side of the cloth is slightly more porous and is obviously meant to catch and trap sweat. Large enough to tie around the face or head, the bandanna would effectively keep sweat and hair out of the eyes, which can be very useful, especially in a fight.
