Oddly sturdy, this is the remains of a blackened stinger.  The smell of boiling poison floats away from the tip of it.  The tip of the stinger is sharp and needlike, but apparently tough and resistant to flame.  The stinger must have been severed from its master, a beast of the desert.  It's hard to tell how fresh though, considering the amount of damage that has been done to it.
