This primitive canoe was made from tightly woven black birch and probably served its owner well for many years.  But, now, it lays beside the roadway in the higher grass and is pretty decomposed.  Most hunters or fishermen would never abandon such a canoe under normal circumstances.  Perhaps, if this boat could speak, it would tell of tales and adventures and a tragic end.  There are several holes in the hull and traces of new inhabitants are evidenced by the straw and dried grass sticking out from the jagged edges of the holes.
