The barkwood plate is about 3 feet in diameter and oval shaped.  It grows on the white ash like scales and the growth process of the tree makes them shed from the tree as it's inner diameter grows larger.  The dark bark of the exterior contrasts greatly with the pure white of the inner surface and it would be really nice if it could be made into a single handed shield.  As is, both hands must be used to hold it in the air in defense only.
