A long, thin, blue tube has fallen off of the woodpecker fir like a porcupine shedding quills.  The extremely sharp point is apparently hard enough to pierce even the toughest armor.  The hollow portion of the needle seems ideal to hold some form of poison in.  With a little fletching, this might make an ideal dart for a blowpipe.
