Always ingenious when it comes to preparing food, dwarfs with their shoeleather skin presented a special problem for them which they solved by thoroughly smoking until almost shriveled beyond recognition and a blackish color.  Then the butcher cuts off chunks and tenderizes them into slivers of dwarf jerky.  This one recently lost a leg and almost looks like jerky already.
