Hard, rough, uneven wood has been crafted to create a small lute.  Strung with the cured and stretched gut lining of a sea cucumber, the unattractive instrument creates an off key twang when plucked.  Small wooden pegs on the short neck of the lute are used to pull the gut to as close to a true tone as possible.  Perhaps with some nice new strings and a little bodywork something good may be made from this waste of wood and energy.
