A heavy scarlet cloak, either made of a thick brushed felt, or a softened wool, as it is extremely warm, yet without wool's heavy coarseness.  The thick fabric is very soft to the touch, many many years old, although the time has only served to increase the cloak's ease, wearing in the brilliant vermilion cloth to a loose drape around the body.  An engraved leather belt straps the cloak at the waist for freedom of movement, as well as on the loose sleeves, to bind them to the wrists to free the arms for swordplay.  The cloak's hem and sleeves carry a runic golden binding, the thread-fine golden filaments glinting even in the merest light.
