The birch bark cask is a beautiful creation, the thin, pale planes of nearly ivory wood bound perfectly in lengths of silver metal, creating a watertight seal at each fold.  Six-sided, and banded at top and bottom as well, the cask has a small cork bung nestled tightly at the upper edge, near the corded twine which allows the cask to be worn at the waist as well as held.
