The key is more of a flat sliver of iron.  There is an obvious, rounded handle but there are no teeth to open a standard lock.  Instead, the key seems to be more of a passkey or entry card of some sort.  The handle twists independent of the base and when the two are perpendicular, two small spikes pop out of the base.
