A steel reinforced oak platform has a flat bar of thin spring steel attached to one end, a steel wire is bolted to each end of the bar.  A long, thick lever is attached to the side and when pulled up, snags the wire and pulls it back to where the holding pin is.  Pulling the trigger after cocked forces any bolt lain into the channel on top of the wooden frame to shoot with great force as the bar returns to its normal shape.
