Years of sacrifices on the obsidian altar have left the ebony surface slightly discolored and smelling of old blood.  The altar stands just tall enough for the local priests to bend over it when they are doing their rituals to honor the God of Ixchal.  Though it is difficult to see, there are tiny racing jaguars carved into the base of the altar.
