This fruit of the bitter melon vine looks like a small, orange-yellow cucumber that weighs little and tastes very bitter.  The gourd is used by the pygmies near Ixchal to cure minor wounds and poison.  The fruit is hard to come by as the vine it grows on does not grow in many places.
