The armor covers chest and back, while sturdy protrusions from the shoulder straps and lower rim applies some shielding effect to the upper arms and the hip.  It is made from soft leather and looks quite comfy - the smell is not too good: Old sweat, perhaps with a pinch of the metallic smell of blood.
