a bottled message

A crumpled piece of paper lay here, large words screaming for attention.

The paper is old and has many stains, of which several seems to be merely
water.  One side has the first page of a letter from someone's wife.  She's
doing good, but her sister is sick.  The letter is dated almost half a year
ago.  The other side, however, has a few large words scrawled on it:
  
                      HELP! SHIPWRECKED
                      GIAN WEST COAST
                      CAP C G L

The words are heavily smeared and appear to have been written with charcoal.
