This great black hat is obviously designed after the traditional, and almost legendary, uniform of the sea merchant's guild.  Of course, nowadays, the guild is barely remembered, instead people only remember the pirates that grew from the disbanded group.  The three rounded sides of the hat are turned up and quite stiff.  On one flap there is a small skull and crossbones emblem carved into the surface.
