The chest is sturdily constructed of heavy iron, however it is beginning to corrode, having sat at the bottom of the murky pool for an unknown period of time.  The chest was stained a deep purple color and inscribed with various spidery runes.  A family crest is still visible on the top of the chest.  It most likely belonged to a Drow merchant.  The lock is intricate and slightly rusted.  The key is nowhere to be seen.
