The warm orange color of fine but ancient copper along with the carved snake handle and fang-like curve of the blade show this to be the ill-famed Toxic Blade.  The dull edges of the blade grow a greenish patina of oxidation that affects those it slashes with a lingering sickness reminiscent of copper poisoning.
