Obviously brought to these depths from some place far away, the huge wooden mask has been cared for with great love.  There is a slight residual of oil on the surface and the wood has a healthy sheen.  Where one small nick has been, the wood has been carefully patched and mended.  The mask is extremely large, however, and it takes great strength to lift it.
