The circular cistern is 20 feet across and gradually slopes toward the center, where rainwater rolls into a hole, leading to a well beneath the ground.  A bucket is suspended from a winch mechanism above the hole, allowing you to take a drink.  The crystal denizens no longer need fresh water.  So, this remnant of their past is now used only by guests.
