a promising boy

A seven year old boy diligently and calmly harvests tea leaves.

This boy, though youngest of the lot, seems the most mature.  He carefully goes about his work collecting tea leaves, neither rushing with impatience nor giving in to futility.  He is content in the knowledge that the monks, in their wisdom, will eventually make their choice of new pupils, and if he is not to be chosen, then so be it.  He does not realize that the monks are keeping a careful eye on him and find him most promising.
