The Cauldron Master calls a disciple over and says, "Quickly as you can, TRY to snatch the grains of rice from my hand".  The student puts his hand a few inches above the master's.  Then, with lightning speed he lunges.  His hand and the master's hand touch.  Both close.  The master's hand opens again, the rice is still there.  "When you can take the grains from my hand, it will be time for you to leave the temple".
