A typhoon serpent soars on the thermals.

A typhoon serpent is a tiny coastal dragon fond of riding the updrafts coming off of sea cliffs, particularly during intense storms.  Its blue-green wings are long and narrow.  Its tail is broad and flat to act as a stabilizer, except at the tip, which narrows into a hooked barb to spear fish as it swoops down over the waves.  Spotting a typhoon serpent is believed to be a good omen for a happy marriage, which may explain why many wedding ceremonies in these parts are held by the sea.  For those who are less superstitious, its hide, when properly skinned, is prized as body armor.
