the shukenja

The shukenja cringes here. He does not wish to fight.

Shukenja are pacifist clerics.  They are usually human, but this one, apparently, is not.  He is a member of the spirit folk, or henjayokai, shape-shifters that move easily between their animal form and their humanoid form.  Like many of his kind, he is averse to fighting and has dedicated his life to the priesthood and aiding the downtrodden.  Unfortunately, he himself seems to have fallen on hard times, as he looks extremely thin and malnourished.  The shaolin monks have taken him in and are working on fattening him up a bit before he returns to his missionary life.
