A dwarf sentry stands watch over the great stairs.

The dwarven warrior is assigned to both watch the stairs to Xak'Vandiri and act as herald to Keorc Koilos of those who emerge from that dark place or those who leave to go down into Xak'Vandiri's depths.  Himself a more than able fighter, the dwarf is rarely challenged by adventurers.
