a rock worm

A twelve foot worm that seems to be made of stone is here.

A few round boulders move as one, and at the end is a rather sharp looking set of mandibles.  The rock worm lives on certain ores only found far underground.  They can tunnel through solid rock and appear to be made mostly of rock themselves.  They have a nasty reputation though of showing up suddenly and eating miners who have disturbed their rest.
