The people's champion.  His great grandfather led the gully dwarves to the discarded parts of Thorbardin.  Since it would have taken too much work to get them all out, the rest of the dwarves allowed them to stay.  Ever since then, the line of gully dwarf Thanes have been respected leaders of the community. Which of course means that no one ever sees him outside his bunker.
