an acid epiphyte

A spidery plant droops from a branch close overhead, wiggling its wet tendrils.

An epiphyte is a plant that grows on another plant.  A green liquid drips from this one's spidery tendrils and seems to eat into the ground!  The tendrils reach out for you, perhaps sensing the vibrations of your passing.
