a surly crawdad

A crawdad wades through the pool, snapping at anything that moves.

This oversized crawdad looks like a large, red lobster.  It scurries along the bottom of the pond, scavenging for anything within reach.  Its two pincers appear ready to give you a bit of a nip.  When frightened, a quick push of its ten legs sends it shooting backward to safety.
