A rabid dog shrieks and hollers, chained to the cold table.

Once a beautiful dog with a shiny, golden coat and short-trimmed fur, this animal has been through quite a lot.  Patches of fur have been ripped off and replaced with grafts of horsehair; a pair of wings protrude from its back, glistening with blood.  Sedated and somewhat stunned, the dog knows only that it feels unbearable pain.
