a dockworker

A burly dockworker is pushing some barrels around here.

This hardened dockworker has got to be as heavy as a logging cart and broad as a barn.  The muscles in his arms are so big they are busting through the seams of his flannel shirt.  While he is hard at work, he is oblivious to his surroundings pushing, rolling, and carrying logs all day loading the keelboats and barges til they are close to sinking.  His only incentive is the simple fact that he won't get paid until the boat is loaded and ready to leave the dock.
