A jet black woodpecker with a red crest on his head and an ivory bill eyes you nervously.

Black as night and glistening in the light, the feathers of the woodpecker ruffle as it feels your eyes upon it.  It swings its six foot body in your direction as it flexes its wings and launches into the air, the blood red crest on its head rising into a spear shape in the same motion.  Twin, gleaming yellow eyes with purple centers fix on your head as the deady ivory beak between them whistles towards your heart.
