a forlorn mule

A mule stands dejectedly near the edge of the cliff.

It is pretty obvious how this mule got here alone.  Broken straps and a slipped harness, this mule sensed better than its master the dangers of the road, and by the looks of it, the mule skidded to a stop sooner than the wagon behind it.  It stands here forlornly without a clear purpose now.
