A large cottonwood watches the woods to the south.
This tall and ancient creature looks thoughtfully in your direction. Its blotchy white and brown bark obscures the eyes hidden in dark splotches. A small knothole mid-trunk disguises a mouth full of flat wooden teeth. Above the eyes and along the head are dozens of smaller branches from which hang great leaves. Tall and skinny, its legs are so close together they look like one big trunk.
