a choke creeper

Vines in a dead tree sniff the air.

The choke creeper, or strangler vine, slowly unwraps some vine tendrils from the dead tree where it is perched.  Vines stretch in all directions from the dead host, some tendrils reaching well over fifty feet long.  Slithering noises suddenly can be heard everywhere as the creeper surrounds its prey with vines which moments before were decorating the healthy trees of the forest. From within the mass of vines on the dead host, a dull gurgling noise emanates, perhaps an empty stomach remembering that it is hungry.
