A monstrous tunnel worm blends into the shadowy cavern.

This is the beast that dragged its belly through the mineral pool and created the chalky line.  The ebony worm is thirty feet long, with a spiked head, jaggedly barbed mandibles, and a thoroughly evil look about it.  Its soft body bulges in pulsating waves because it is pregnant with hundreds of babies.  The worm excels at hiding because its skin is able to suck in surrounding energy, including light.  This propery makes the skin highly valuable, if it can be removed intact.
