a violet fungus

A large fungus with four tentacle like arms sits here.

The violet fungus is a close relative of the shrieker, however, unlike the shrieker, the violet fungus grows appendages that can be used as clubs in combat.  The violet fungus has a symbiotic relationship with shriekers--prey killed by the violet fungus decomposes to feed both the violet fungus and the shrieker.  The more prolific shrieker alerts the violet fungi as to where prey lies and thus the two exist in harmony.
