a blind hermit

An old hermit sits cross-legged on the cavern floor.

Seemingly a permanent fixture of these secluded caverns, this ancient being seems quite content living so simply and tending his fire.  He gazes directly toward the soft, red embers, and in the glow, the cataracts are clearly visible...  The old one is blind!  His tattered clothing hangs loosely on his lanky frame, showing obvious signs of malnutrition.  What scraps could he possibly find to eat in such surroundings?
