A sweeping, ciliated rock captures dust and debris.

Like long branches of broom straw growing in granite, this rock has been given the responsibility, it would seem, of keeping these tunnels clean.  An odd job for a rock, but fitting none the less.  The cilia-like structures are perfect for capturing and sweeping away unwanted foreign bodies.  A greenish-yellowish kind of slimemold is growing on them, which aids in the entrapment of said bodies.
