Peeking through fallen cattails, a water snake inspects the shore.

Small enough to curl up into the palm of an elven hand, this reptile's eyes shine as its forked tongue licks at the air, exploring the food supply within the reeds.  The snake's scales are glimmering black, beads of tinted water slip from its body.  It seems hesitant to come any closer, slipping its slender form back beneath the reeds.
