The statue is made of a hard stone that is native to the region.  The statue is well-crafted to resemble a large warrior in full fighting gear, including a heavy stone shield and a very sharp stone sword.  The face of the statue has no expression, but if statues had body language this one would be saying that it is eager to fight.
