A dire ape pulls back its lips to show its canines at your approach.

This great, feral ape is about the size of an ogre, but even more muscular. It is barrel-chested, with thick, black fur, long arms, and a short, turned up nose.  In an emergency, it is not above grabbing a nearby branch to use as a quick club.
