A bizarre, panther-like beast with two long tentacles crouches before you.

The displacer beast looks like an emaciated panther, with blue-black fur, six bony legs, and two long, squid-like tentacles arching up from its shoulder blades.  The tentacles flail overhead as it stalks you.  Every now and then it seems to fade from view when you blink and reappear a few feet to the left or right.  Is this real teleportation or just an illusion.  Where exactly is the creature standing?!
