A prisoner, perhaps of his own mind, is chained to the wall.

Though his clothes are all in rags, at one time, they were fine garments. A metal muzzle has been clamped over his face, whether to stop his whining or to prevent his spell casting, it matters not.  The look in his eyes is that of a mad man, and there is no doubt that he has been mistreated horribly.
