the Goddess Atropos

A small old woman is cutting a length of thread.

A very short, old ugly woman with a frown on her face and steely determination in her eyes is snipping a long measure of thread with a gleaming pair of shears.  She is known as Atropos, the Fate who decides how long anyone will live.  Her domain is the Wisdom of an eternity watching the lives of other people.  Although this might seem an evil task to be responsible for the date of death, without her there would be no endings, only eternal suffering and endless aging.
