the Phoenix

The likeness of a fiery, red Phoenix rises above the center of the plaza.

This grand statue appears to be worshipped as a goddess in these realms. Its brightly colored wings outspread, each feather lashing brilliant flames from its end, the Phoenix stands high above the assembly.  Several humble peasants prostrate themselves before its talons, while others lovingly place bouquets of fragrant, colorful flowers upon its broad pedestal.  The Phoenix nobly surveys the scene, the living visage of flame with flashing, red eyes.
