A herring gull floats on the tide.

The herring gull, like all gulls, is both a good swimmer and flyer, and is mostly carnivorous.  This species is grey and white, with black and white wing-tips, and a yellow bill with the common red dot.  At home on the water, this bird both sleeps and feeds without going ashore.
