A young robed figure wanders around.

He looks quite young for an elf, probably only 250 years old at best.  His tiny, pointed ears are almost entirely hidden beneath his red robes that cover his head.  A warm smile, and friendly handshake from this youngster and he knows more about you than you'd ever guess.  He introduces himself as a mage's apprentice and gushes on and on about his future as a powerful magician.
