This girl is learning that one of the key elements of being a true bard is being able to fashion or repair your instrument.  She is working hard carving out her flute, proud that she has only broken two of the special pieces of wood needed to make her instrument.  She is humming a tune to herself as she listens to the others in the room laughing and telling stories or sharing songs.
